Depends which keyboard layout you have, mine uses (Alt Gr) next to the space bar to the right + 4.

Hi Ann.
My keyboard gets that.
But try... the 'AltGr' key to the right of the space bar. And the 4/$ key, at the same time.
On mine it comes out.. € ie the Euro symbol

And on my keyboard I have to press 'Alt Gr' and the '2' key at the same time.
Look: €
And here's me thinking computer keyboards were pretty much standard.

Thanks to all that tried to help me.
Finally worked it out on my keyboard it's Ctrl + Alt + 5 which produces €
Why can't they standardise keyboards & many other things. Would make life so much easier

| When using your word processor select insert, then symbol and the dialog box will inform you of the shortcut key for the symbol you want. You can if you want change the key. |

As far as I was aware, on a standard UK keyboard the € symbol is Alt Gr and 4 as said above.
If that doesn't work, perhaps you have your keyboard/language set as something other than UK? |

<<perhaps you have your keyboard/language set as something other than UK?>>
That's it - it's not the keyboard, it's your settings on the computer.

There are lots of different keyboard layouts for different regions and languages. For the keys to map correctly to the key caps displayed, you must associate the keyboard with the language you are typing in.
By default, Windows will associate the UK keyboard pattern with the English UK language, yet you may have a US pattern keyboard or a Greek pattern keyboard instead of a UK pattern. From Windows Regional Settings set the language to (say) English UK. The input language would normally be set the same. Check what keyboard is applied.
If you have a £ sign at Shift 3, then it will almost certainly be a UK keyboard. If you have a # sign at shift 3 it will probably be a US keyboard. If you have Greek characters on the keys, then it doesn't take rocket science to work out that it will be a Greek keyboard etc. Add the appropriate keyboard and delete any others associated with the UK input language setting.
It is possible to re-map the functions of keys, but unless there is a compelling reason to do so (e.g. to change the default setting of the F Lock key) it is probably better not to do so.
You can always get the Euro symbol, regardless of which key is mapped to that symbol, by using ALT+0128 from the numeric keypad € as someone mentioned earlier in the thread. |

I just type 'euro' into Google and copy and paste the symbol from the ensuing results page:
| Quote: | | The euro (€) is the official currency of 16 of the 27 Member States |

Or .... in documents if using MS Office Word 2007 (not sure about earlier versions), click the 'Insert' tab, then click on 'Symbol' on the far right, and then click the euro symbol.
