Hi to all. I have read many of the posts on here regarding the fors & againsts of making a Cyprus Will. My wife and I know that neither of our Two daughters would stake a claim for a % of our apt should anything happen to One of us, so, we have no concerns there. However, our concern is, if something happened to the both of us. Would it be easy for our daughters' to take possession (which is our wish) of our apt and if decided to in future, sell? _________________ Regards

Update to above post, for which i would be grateful for verification. Just returned from Pafos and during a discussion on Wills with my sister, she believes that if i didn't have a Will and something dreadful happened to me or my wife, the Will could be in Probate for up to 10 years. In wich case, the survivor would not be allowed to sell the property. Also, my sister believes that the executor (if not a solicitor) has to be a resident of Cyprus.
Would anyone like to comment or confirm these suppositions, as i do keep hearing lots of contradictory information and it would be good to get the corret information.
Many thanks _________________ Regards

I recently contacted my solicitor in Cyprus regarding writing a will and he referred me to his website for further information. it said quite clearly in his website that an executor of a will must be resident in Cyprus. I would like my 2 children to be executors of my will as they are in my UK will. As my children are resident in the UK it would appear that they could not be executors.
Like the previous poster I would appreciate clarification.
thankyou

Both of our children are the executors of our will and they reside in the U.K.
At first we had our solicitor as executor and had it changed over, my solicitor couldn't see a problem with that. _________________ Molly |

Keith,
Don't mess about, make a will!!
That is the only way that you can know, or at least do your best to arrange for, what will happen should one or both of you die. |
